An AI Compliance Assistant That Checks Trade Work On Site and Writes the Report

The Challenge

"Every job leaves a trail: photos, test results, defect notes and a report the client will actually read. Most of it gets written up hours later at the kitchen table, from memory and a camera roll of fuzzy photos. Jordan Evans, an electrician with ten years on the tools, set out to fix that for every licensed trade."

The standards aren't getting any simpler. AS/NZS 3000 alone runs to hundreds of pages, and the rules shift between states and network operators. A missed requirement means a callback. The app had to check real work against the right standard for that location and trade, show the exact clause, and never pretend to be sure when it isn't.

Our Approach

DevForge built the Trade IQ app for iOS and Android in React Native, the NestJS backend, and the AI compliance engine behind it. The engine reads the tradie's location and trade, loads the standards that apply, checks captured work against them and cites the clause, so the licensed tradesperson always makes the final call. When a photo is too dark or too far away to judge, it says so instead of guessing.

What we built

A three-step workflow: open the job, capture the work, then check it and send. Along the way the app runs compliance checks with clause references, offers around ten calculators per trade, and gathers every check, photo and note into a branded, client-ready PDF report that can go out by email or text before the tradie has packed up.
