Building a Wellbeing App That Feels as Good as It Functions

The Challenge

"Catherine came to DevForge with a clear vision: a wellbeing app called Gooday that would help people build better daily habits and find moments of genuine positivity in their day. She had the idea, the drive, and a deep understanding of her users."

Beyond the core vision, the project faced significant technical hurdles: ensuring strict data privacy and HIPAA-compliant security for sensitive user wellbeing data, while maintaining a high-performance mobile experience across a wide range of devices. The app also needed a highly flexible habit-tracking engine that could grow with Catherine's evolving methodology.

Our Approach

We adopted a modular, privacy-first architecture using NestJS for the backend, which allowed us to isolate sensitive data processing while maintaining scalability. By implementing a robust CI/CD pipeline early in the project, we enabled a high-velocity development cycle, allowing Catherine to test new wellbeing features and habit-tracking loops in real-world scenarios within days of conceptualization.

What we built

DevForge worked with Catherine across the full product lifecycle, from architecture and design to development, QA, and launch. The Gooday app was built with a React Native frontend and a scalable NestJS backend, utilizing CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable delivery.
