    The Challenge

"A US-based global supplier of life-science research products sells a large, technical catalogue to researchers and institutions around the world. Its customers need to find exactly the right product quickly and order the way their organisation buys, which a generic storefront doesn't handle well."

The platform had to connect the storefront to the business systems behind it, including inventory, pricing and ERP, stay fast for customers around the world, and let the team keep shipping changes safely over years rather than months.

    Our Approach

We built a headless storefront in Next.js on top of commercetools, keeping commerce logic in commercetools and the customer experience in Next.js. Around it we built the integrations and backend services that connect the store to inventory, pricing and ERP systems, plus the CI/CD and infrastructure work that keeps it fast and safe to change.

    What we built

Over more than two years: the storefront, product catalogue, search and product pages; checkout, customer accounts and order history; integrations and backend services for inventory, pricing and ERP data; and ongoing performance and DevOps work.

  1. Headless storefront built in Next.js
  2. Commerce engine on commercetools
  3. Product catalogue, search and detailed product pages
  4. Checkout and customer accounts with order history
  5. Integrations with inventory, pricing and ERP systems
  6. Backend services and APIs connecting the store to business data
  7. Performance work for customers around the world
  8. CI/CD and infrastructure for safe, frequent releases
  9. The Outcome

The client runs its global storefront on a headless commercetools and Next.js platform that DevForge has built and extended for more than two years, with the integrations, performance and delivery pipeline to keep improving it.
