Stack Highlights
The Challenge
"A B2B marketplace in India sells building materials to small and medium businesses. Its buyers order in bulk, often need credit to buy, and need to know exactly where an order is, which a standard consumer storefront isn't built for."
The platform had to support how businesses actually buy: large quantities, quotes and price requests, business accounts and GST invoices, plus a credit option inside checkout and clear order and delivery tracking. It also had to stay fast and keep improving over years, not just launch.
Our Approach
We built the marketplace as a Vue.js storefront on BigCommerce, with backend services and integrations for the parts of B2B buying that a standard storefront doesn't cover: credit through a lending partner at checkout, and order, dispatch and delivery status. Alongside the product work, we've looked after performance and DevOps for more than two years.
What we built
The web marketplace and the services behind it: catalogue, search and product pages; B2B ordering with bulk quantities, quotes and price requests, business accounts and GST invoices; credit at checkout through a lending partner; order, dispatch and delivery tracking; and ongoing performance, infrastructure and CI/CD work.
How it fits together

Architecture: a B2B layer on a commerce platform
BigCommerce handles the core commerce: products, carts and orders. The Vue.js storefront gives buyers an experience built for business purchasing, and DevForge's backend services add what B2B buying needs on top, from the credit flow to order and delivery status.
- Vue.js storefront for the buyer experience
- BigCommerce as the commerce platform
- Backend services and integrations for B2B-specific flows
B2B ordering: built for how businesses buy
Businesses don't buy building materials like consumers buy shoes. We built ordering around bulk quantities, quotes and price requests, business accounts, and GST invoices, so a buyer can price, order and account for a purchase the way their business needs to.
- Bulk quantities in the order flow
- Quotes and price requests
- Business accounts
- GST invoices
Credit at checkout
Many small and medium businesses need credit to buy materials when they need them. We integrated a lending partner into the order flow, so a buyer can choose to buy on credit or use financing without leaving checkout.
- Credit or financing offered inside checkout
- Integration with a lending partner
- No separate application flow outside the order
Order tracking and delivery
For bulk building materials, knowing when an order will arrive matters as much as the price. Buyers can follow each order from placement through dispatch to delivery.
- Order status for every purchase
- Dispatch and delivery tracking for buyers
Performance and DevOps over the long run
A marketplace like this keeps changing, so we've looked after its speed, infrastructure and release process for more than two years, keeping it fast and safe to change as new features ship.
- Performance work on the storefront
- Infrastructure and scaling
- CI/CD for frequent, safe releases
The Outcome
The client runs its B2B marketplace on a BigCommerce and Vue.js platform that DevForge has built and extended for more than two years, with credit, ordering and delivery tracking designed around how businesses buy.
