    The Challenge

"A US digital health startup was building a wearable device to help adults who struggle with focus, used in short daily sessions. The device needed a companion app that made each session easy to start and showed people their progress over time, without adding friction to a routine meant to reduce it."

The app had to connect reliably to the wearable, stay responsive while showing live data from the device during a session, and present that data in a way people without a technical background could understand. As a health product still in development, it also had to fit a product that was changing without constant rework.

    Our Approach

We built the companion app natively for iOS, so the device connection and live session views could make full use of the platform, and integrated it with the product's Django (Python) backend for accounts, session history and insights.

    What we built

A native iOS app covering device pairing and connection, guided daily sessions, live visualisation of device data during each session, progress tracking over time, and the insights people receive between sessions.

  1. Device pairing and a reliable connection to the wearable
  2. Guided daily sessions started from the app
  3. Live visualisation of device data during a session
  4. Progress tracking across sessions
  5. Personalised insights delivered in the app
  6. Accounts and session history synced with a Django backend
  7. The Outcome

The companion app is in early access with customers in the United States, pairing with the wearable for guided daily sessions and showing people their progress as they go.
